Communications of Babel proportions

I was trying to get through to a Korean editor but the receptionist didn't understand English and I was given the runaround. I finally ended up with a particular lady who refused to give up or pass me to another person.

It was quite amusing that I spoke to her in English (which she doesn't understand) and she spoke to me in Korean (which I don't understand) .

As we repeated the same thing, we g0t slower and s-l-o-w-e-r, hoping the deceleration would improve understanding.

It was an exercise in vain.

So I had an excuse to approach the cute Korean guy on our floor...and he came over and managed to get the editor's direct line for me... cheap thrill, yes.

In the end, another leading Korean business paper is interested in what we have to say about energy portfolio diversification and the choices between various renewable sources. Cool.

Yesterday I spoke in Bahasa Melayu to someone in Indonesia. It wasn’t so bad to start with because she could understand me in English and replied me in Bahasa. After a while I used Malay.

Next stop: Taiwan (Mandarin), Thailand (Thai) and Vietnam (Khmer). Pray for me.

As addendum to my previous post: God did the impossible. I got four leads, one of them being a very prestigious UK paper, and am hoping for more. All glory to HIM!

Gosh, you'll be multi-lingual (not that you aren't now) once you're done with this job.

Wow, what an experience. All I get to do is talk to Chinese and Malay editors. Really makes of feel like i should go global.
