First day in London- addendum
We were halfway making dinner when we stopped getting water. Not a drip. Not even in the toilet!
CH: You mean this place doesn't have water tank like we do back home?
NY: Guess not.
Couldn't get through to Thames Water. A check with a friendly neighbour revealed that there is no water in the whole of Chiswick.
We had limited drinking water left so I insisted we go to Sainsbury to get water. Walking there:
CH: I should have showered the moment I got home!
NY: Should we go to Paul's place to shower?
CH: They are one hour away! Might as well pay to shower in that gym....mm.... but if this is all over Chiswick...
NY: You know what we shouldn't do?
CH: What?
NY: Shit
CH: What?
NY: Shit. We won't have water to flush!
CH: Shit!
The particular gym in discussion sits above a chic tapas bar and teaches only yoga lessons in a 40C heated room. The heat is supposed to be good, according to CH, according to the gym people.
Enroute to the high street we see this couple jogging past us and CH starts to snicker.
NY: What?
CH: These people (snickers again)
NY: What??
CH: No water to shower!
NY & CH: Hahahahahaa!
We reached the junction where the tapas bar is and CH told me to look up. The yoga place is all glass and mirror and you can see people wearing very little while bending their bodies flexibly. CH says they are offering GBP10 for 10 days for new people. I told her I'd pass.
Firstly, I'd be THE major klutz with sweaty palms and soles not being able to hold my positions. Secondly, both my churches in Malaysia and Singapore prohibit yoga. Thirdly and most importantly, I'd just die doing it. Sitting down in the steam room at 40C gives me the dizzies.
We got three five-litre bottles.
CH: So much?
NY: What if we don't get water for the next three days??
CH: This is UK lor...
NY: But just what if we don't?
CH: If this is affect the whole of Chiswick then maybe it is very serious. Maybe there is a broken pipe. The pipes here are so old and they leak a lot.
NY: We have leaky pipes in Malaysia too, 30% of our potable water is lost through leakages.
CH: Wow, really?
Another lady jogs past us in the field. CH snickers again.
NY: What, the jogger?
CH: No, the people doing yoga in 40C!
NY & CH: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
P/s We got water after we ate dinner :) This is a first world country after all. But they really should have water tanks in homes.

LOL! Thank goodness you gals can go berak that evening.
this is so funny!!! i mean the sweaty strangers (eewwwkkk). Not unless they know something you 2 girls don't? ;-)
UK is first world today, but their buildings were probably built like 200 years ago, before they became smart. Hahaha.
You should come to Putrajaya, where the water rains from the ceiling, free of charge.
Ha ha, very funny. I am sure Samy will appreciate your humour. You know, I made a mistake of puchasing a more expensive travel ticket for British Rail and when I told them that, they actually corrected MY mistake and refunded me. In KL? Sori naik lori, yang.
Vien, we do our no2 in the mornings :)
Keekee...was in a laughing fit reading your water woes. And I was reading in the office summore. Sounded like a hyena..lucky boss tak marah!
To home water tanks in the UK...Cheers!
