Put your hand on your heart...

…and say “It begins with me”. One of the strongest lessons taught by Pastor Chris.
I didn’t make it to the library because of two last minute proposals that came my way. The silver lining is I kept to reading Moving On and Moving Up instead of a fictional story.

Pastor Naomi says in moving on to every level, we need to involve our families.

I have almost never done that since I was a little kid. My parents were of the traditional sorts that believed in no praises, scolding and demeaning is the way to raise children. So I never shared my achievements or my projects.

I planned my way through university (what to do and where) and what jobs to take, when to change, etc. I applied for scholarships and schools for my masters and only told my parents a few months after I got the award. At least with Singapore, I told my mom I have such aspirations a couple of months before I put plans into action.

It begins with me.

Chapter 7 talks about spiritual warfare and it did scare me a little. As we move up to new levels in our Spiritual journey, the attacks also move up in levels. I think I had that yesterday. Things were basically OK in the office but I got bouts of doubt and fear. When I get into such a situation, I truly and strongly feel like I want to withdraw from the world and just hide. But I have not been given a spirit of timidity.

Woke up this morning and decided to fast lunch and pray. At lunch time, went beside the river with my Bible, sang some songs in my heart, and enjoyed the greeneries. I like working at Raffles Place.

Halfway reading through Moses and Aaron’s chronicles it started to patter and pattered very heavily very quickly. Ran across Cavanagh Bridge and found shelter under the Bank of China. Stood beside the pillars and looked across the river. The rain formed a heavy curtain. But it was beautiful. I stood staring at the rain and the windswept trees and prayed.

Smiles.

Have I ever mentioned that I have spirit that sings all the time? And it’s amusing because the song changes with thoughts and word associations. If you catch me smiling to myself sometimes it could be that the song changed and I feel like God is being humourous with me- not because I am going cuckoo. Sometimes, some songs would just “come”. Today, under the rain, it was this:

O Lord our God,
How excellent Your name is,
How excellent Your name in all the earth,
Your glory fills the heavens,
Beyond the farthest star,
How excellent Your name in all the earth;

When I think about the heavens,
The moon and the stars,
I wonder what You ever saw in me,
But You took me and You loved me,
And You've given me a crown
(like a princess!!),
And now I praise Your name eternally

O Lord our God,
How excellent Your name is,
How excellent Your name in all the earth,
Your glory fills the heavens,
Beyond the farthest star,
How excellent Your name in all the earth.

How excellent you are, Lord.
