new wine and new wineskin
What makes anyone divorce someone they married? I was just thinking of that last night. Probably has to do with the fact that I now know more people who are divorced.
If you really want to know how I’ve settled in Singapore:
I like that I don’t have to drive to work and be all stressed up even before work starts
I rent a room in this really nice development called Mandarin Gardens, which is literally 100m away from the beach. It is an old development, but because of that, the apartment is HUGE
If we are higher we can see the beach but we are on the 7th floor. All our rooms face the car park, though.
I get my own bathroom but it is across the hall. Because the apartment is huge, it is about 14.5 steps from my room to my bathroom. So when I need to pee at night, I actually am fully awake by the time I get back to my own room, instead of still being semi-asleep.
The chief tenant, Darren, is and Australian Born Chinese who is a professional swimmer and coaches swimming for a living.
My two other flatmates are Malaysians from Miri and they attend The Rock- Victor was watching Pastor Prince on CD last night and Onyz is in Brisbane. Onyz (pronounced Onnie), is a stewardess with SIA.
My room is larger than the one at home but it is still bare because Darren went back to Sydney the day I moved in and I said he could furnish it when he is back. I sleep on the sofa bed now.
My colleagues are good people, really.
I get a larger workstation and I get the window- more buildings than sky.
Went to a Presbyterian church over the weekend with a couple I know. Worship was uninspiring, but Word was good- debunking the Da Vinci Code. That’s it for now.
