Bridges over troubled waters

I told you he still makes irritating remarks over the media.

Is it me, of does anyone else not find the idea of building half a bridge most ridiculous? I mean, do you drive to the end of the Malaysian half and say ooops… there’s water? Or does it make sense to spend so much money in order for the half bridge to serve as a scenic spot?

I know, we can lease the road to Ramli Burger since Singaporeans love it- and since we are so mean, we can let them smell it and not taste it.

Or maybe, someone can build a hotel on the bridge and it will be the first in the world! Think about it- the Guinness Book of Records! If Guinness rejects it, never mind- we have the Malaysian Book of Records to shower accolades on ourselves.

What do you know: Maybe the hotel will be so popular that there will be a REIT on it! Then the people may get some money back on public dollars that went into building the half bridge.

On the other hand… the idea of building a bridge to INDONESIA doesn’t sound so bad…

The upside is it would reduce piracy on the Straits on Melaka.
It will also increase tourism and trade.

The downside is that it presents plenty of opportunities for corrupt government officials on both sides to further benefit from another mega project. I can sense the glee now that construction projects have been scaled down in Malaysia.

Only, please don’t let Samy take charge again, or we will have the Melaka Bridge is Falling Down because of bad design and low quality materials.
