Cyber twilight zone

Strange phenomena in the office.

Strangeness No. 1:
My office’s server is full. Can servers be full? That we have used up the space in one particular server of a limited size is not strange. That we have such a small server for a company that creates content is.

Strangeness No.2:
As a result of Strangeness No. 1, each team has been instructed to transfer old files into our own form of extra storage. Some mulled over burning CDs (no brain-er, literally) and it was actually considered. Someone (ahem) cleverly suggests we buy an external storage but nobody in her team wanted to listen. Strangeness, indeed.

Strangeness No.3:
Someone else from another team with more money went ahead and bought the external storage and kindly let other teams put our stuff in it. Someone who is even smarter started to create a route to that external storage on everyone’s computer. So yours truly started to remove files by client accounts into the new X-drive. Boss went into X-drive to look for a particular client’s files and found no client file. Na-da. Not there. Gone. No more. (!?!?!?!?!?!?!?)

Strangeness No.4:
Yours truly checked X-drive and the files were indeed there! But not so from boss’ computer!! Strangeness of all strangeness. So yours truly dutifully copied all those trillions of megabytes- taking hours and a toll on the processing speed- back to the old server. Now we have two copies of these clients’ files- one in the original drive and one in “X-drive”.

Strangeness No.5:
The person who mapped my computer to X-drive could not trace where my “X-drive” really is in our servers or the cyberspace. Mine is the only computer routed to this “place” because everyone else’s computer reads from the same OTHER external drive!!!!!

Strangeness No. 6:
I am still pulling out files from this cyber twilight zone. It will be my personal storage since no one else can find it and knows it exists.

Ooooh….

haha, ya it is cool for a while but our office manager came around today to ask where is my X-drive routed to (honestly, you think i would know?) so I guess I would need to give up my personal cyber-space soon.
