Kudos for Thai checks and balances
So the tops three courts of Thailand ruled the recent elections void. The Elections Commission was at fault in that the secrecy of voting was not secured. The courts are calling for members of the Elections Commission to resign, and the new polls to be managed by the courts.
Can we have a round of applause? Really!
Can we imagine that this scenario could even happen in Malaysia?
I am not talking about voiding an election. We wouldn’t even get there and here is why:
Will the courts have been able (either in objectivity or having the freedom) to rule thus?
Will it have the powers depose another government institution under the purview of the PM’s Office (as the EC is in Malaysia)?
